About
It seems I have always been drawn to working with wood. As a kid, I would help my dad with projects and as an adult, I have always had a shop wherever I lived. I would build bookshelves and cabinets for myself and friends. I was a Physical Therapist by day and enjoyed intermittently tinkering in my shop on the weekends. But it was in 2019 when my brother-in-law said “hey, I just got this little Harbor Freight lathe, you should try it!” Well, I spent 15-20 min on it and have not looked back! I love every process of wood turning, from gathering large rounds from trees that have had to come down (I pretty much only turn wood that is local to the area), to processing the blanks into completed pieces, to learning about adding resin to my work to bring color to a piece, to pyrography, paint and basketry! There is always something new to learn and old skills to master. It has ignited a creativity and passion in me that I never knew I had.
